Tegan and Sara (feat. The Lonely Island) – Everything is Awesome!

It’s good to be a Kings fan! At least it has been for the last couple weeks. The Kings have now put together seven straight wins, their longest winning streak of the season. They gave another strong performance against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday evening. Despite reverting back to bad discipline habits in the third period, the Kings came out with a 4-2 win, including Alec Martinez’s third goal in four games.

LA Kings Insider Jon Rosen got this quote from Jake Muzzin on Martinez that I’ve already replayed like 50 times, giggling.

Jeff Carter also added two goals his total this season, and Trevor Lewis scored again for the first time since the Kings played St. Louis in January. Today, team plays in their second night of a back-to-back to end this Canada road trip.

LL Cool J – Mama Said Knock You Out

The Kings didn’t escape the penalty party completely unscathed. In addition to the two roughing penalties he earned during the game, Jordan Nolan now has a hearing scheduled with NHL Player Safety for face-punching Oilers forward Jesse Joensuu like a dumbo. The Kings have been lucky to avoid supplemental discipline this season. That includes a preseason incident where Nolan landed a big hit to Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla.

The upside is that Nolan plays on the fourth line, so even if he is suspended for a game or two, the Kings shouldn’t have a problem reworking lines a little and putting in Tanner Pearson.

Daft Punk – One More Time

Tonight the Kings are in Calgary to play the Flames. Weren’t they just here? Fans haven’t even had time to miss them yet.

Just kidding, fans never miss the Flames.

In order to extend the streak to eight and also go three for three on the roadtrip, the Kings need to put Calgary down another time. When they played last week, the Kings lost the possession battle gruesomely, but Jonathan Quick still managed to shut them out. Kings won 2-0. Jones will be in net tonight, and hopefully the Kings minimize penalties, don’t allow four goals like they did when Jones was in net against the Colorado Avalanche, and come back to LA on a high note.
