Ducks at Kings: It Got Hot in Staples Center
This isn’t a real recap because we’re going to record the podcast for the week, but Saturday night’s game against the Ducks was so stupid that it only seemed right to represent the most ridiculous moment the way it deserved. That is, as a filk of the first part of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre.”
I mean, Twitter also accidentally earwormed me with that song at midnight, so what else was I supposed to do? Anyway, blame Flubber McGee and KVVF 105.7.
Here, just in case you want to try to rap along:
Refs were like, good gracious Kings are tenacious
Voracious, setting the pace, and
Looking for the right time to split the D
Looking for a way to shoot past the goalie
And, uh, they’re scheming, please believe it
LA against Anaheim’s heathens
Check it, kept out by Andersen’s knees, man
Wrist shot, slap shot, stopped in the crease, and
No reprieve, nothing is achieved, all teasing
They needed to get low, crashing the net once more
Give them fans what they’re asking for
It’s time to bring the juice, need a shot that can produce
And Kopi tips one loose, but the refs ignore the proofThey say —
It’s getting close in here
So we waved off the goal
(It is getting too close, we’re gonna wave the goal off!)
It’s getting close in here
So we waved off the goal
(It is getting too close, we’re gonna wave the goal off!)
Now, for those who enjoy sad movies, I’ve embedded the full replay of this goalie interference call on Marian Gaborik that disallowed Anze Kopitar’s goal below.
For other, actual recaps of the game, head over to Jewels From The Crown, The Royal Half, and of course the official LA Kings site. Then come back and listen to our podcast later.
That’s fantastic. I loved it
