Trevor Lewis versus Anaheim’s unproven goalies

All Trevor Lewis does is shoot high and wide or from behind the net, unless he’s facing an Anaheim Ducks goaltender. In those situations, he’s usually right on target.

Lewis had an awesome scoring opportunity in the Kings-Ducks game Wednesday night, but it was his entirely stoppable shot that slipped by Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen. After that, Andersen was pulled in favor of backup Jason LaBarbera.

Plenty of Twitter users, including us, referenced Lewis’ goals on John Gibson in the playoffs. Lewis’ first goal against Gibson in Game 5 of the 2013-14 series against the Ducks was a pretty legit shot from the right circle, breaking Gibson’s shutout time against the Kings in that series. His goal in Game 6 was a softer than all the Yogurtland Kings fans have won at Staples Center so far this season.

Lewis took a shot from the top of the circles, but Gibson saw it all the way. It still snuck behind him.

I didn’t realize exactly how similar Lewis’ latest goal looked until I watched them back-to-back.

We probably need to stitch these together to really appreciate how utterly silly it is that this has happened with both of Anaheim’s young goaltenders during this calendar year.

Trevor Lewis doesn’t have a notable goal-scoring career, but the Anaheim Ducks goaltenders are helping him come out ahead.

Thanks to Andersen’s strong work last night, he’s helped Lewis gain some ground against the cumulative points goaltenders in the NHL so far this season in THX BUD’s points tracker.

Keep pressing for it, Lewis! That goal brings his shooting percentage up to 11.10 percent, and he’s already one-third of the way to matching his career-high six goals in a season. Dream big.
