1. B.B. King – Bad Luck
It’s that time of year, folks! Time for the LA Kings to have a real good shot at beating the the St. Louis Blues and sending them and their fans to bed weeping. According to the LA Kings PR twitter, the Kings are 14-3-0 in the last 17 games against the Blues, including playoff match-ups.
It might be a little tougher this time. Despite letting Sharks trounce them on Friday, ending their 5-game win streak, the Blues are still 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.
2. LMFAO – Shots (feat. Lil Jon)
I’m sorry.
The Blues’ leaders in shots and goals — Alex Steen (20) and captain David Backes (12) — also both have shooting percentages above 20 percent. Not only are they getting pucks through to goaltenders, they’re finding the back of the net. As a whole, the Blues have had no problems scoring so far this season. Meanwhile, the Kings are hitting a scoring slump. In their last 5 games, they’re 1-1-3 and have only managed 7 goals in that span. In comparison, the Blues have scored 19 goals in their last five games.
Kings-Blues games have been notoriously low-scoring recently, so strong defense and goaltending could still see LA stay in it. Though, obviously, it would be better not to bank on that, because you never know when —
3. Bowling for Soup – Almost
I had two songs picked out: one in case the Kings’ point streak continued, and then this if it didn’t. The winner song was better, but losers deserve Bowling for Soup.
The Blues may have something to prove after an embarrassing, streak-ending loss to the Sharks, but the Kings also played half-asleep on Saturday and killed their point streak thanks to the Calgary Flames. Everybody’s a disgrace today. Hopefully this leads to a brutally competitive game for both teams that drives Mark Spector insane.
Never forget.
