That flukey goal continues to infuriate me, but as everyone has been saying, it is what it is, and you just have to move on and focus on the next game. Darryl Sutter actually has plenty of other things to say, and they’re all damn delightful. But of course that goal wouldn’t have mattered at all if only they could have scored more goals throughout the sixty minutes.
With Ben Scrivens off to the frozen tundra of Edmonton, Pearson and Vey are ready and waiting in the wings to get their chance to contribute the depth scoring that the Kings, oh, so desperately need.
The Kings’ last game against the Bruins was a great example of how they’re totally able to put together a complete game and beat this team. A power play goal, depth scoring from defensemen, physical play and great clean rushes obviously helped the Kings gain the upper hand over another very defensive team. If only they could consistently do this! The dream!
It’s been a weird collection of scrappy and physical games during the Kings’ extended road trip. With the Bruins next in line, I can only imagine that the trend will continue. Brad Marchand has a nice little points streak going, and I’m sure that any number of Kings players would love to shut that dude down. While I don’t expect it to be a rumblefest like the game against the Canucks, there’s probably going to be a lot of jostling and posturing and chirps galore.
After their disappointing last road trip, the Kings are actually off to a pretty good start this time around. This road trip has seen a pretty put-together and successful team (the unfortunate loss included), so as long as the Kings continue to play as well and cohesively as they have been, they should be able to tally another win.
