The Kings had a couple of days off, so instead of worrying about what was going on with them, it gave us all plenty of time to go nuts about the 2014 Canada Olympics roster  announced this morning.

After a disheartening 5-game losing streak that saw the Kings go 0-4-0 on the road, they (FINALLY) turned it around with a win on home ice against the Vancouver Canucks to start their 5 game homestand.

Young the Giant – It’s About Time

After the stellar start to December that the team had, it was only a matter of time until they regressed to being less than fantastic, but woof, that time was rough. Shooting percentage was awful, the defense was laughable at times, and no one could skate worth a damn. But forget about that, those are times of old (hopefully).

The win against the Canucks was a solid one, not one that they were just lucky to win, so that’s promising for future performances. With this win in their pocket and home ice to look forwards to for a stretch, let’s hope the Kings keep it up and not go back to being garbage!

The Angels – My Boyfriend’s Back

Jonathan Quick was back in net for the win against the Canucks, and he was in fine form. After the initial trepidation that he would just disintegrate after his first split save, we all saw that the reports were true: it barely looked like he missed a game. Stopping 27 of 28 shots was good enough for a win, peppered with some spectacular saves that reminded us how much we (but mostly, Chanelle) love him.

It also bodes well for the great country of the United States of America for having him appear in the Olympics in February.

Tegan & Sara – Proud

Speaking of the Olympics, this game will boast 11 Olympians. Dustin Brown, Jonathan Quick, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter all belong to the superior American team, but as we noted in the podcast on Sunday Mike Yeo is a Canadian terrorist, hell bent on diminishing America’s chances at gold by allowing Parise to play while injured and playing Suter to the ground every night.

Who knows what kind of shenanigans will happen tonight! Especially since people seem to think that Dustin Brown is picking up the slack of Inglorious Backes and taking down any non-Americans. At least Luongo knows how to take a joke.

Niederreiter (Switzerland), Granlund and Koivu (Finland) might want to skate the other way. Just in case.
