Cyndi Lauper – True Colors
The Ducks true colors are starting to show. After a weird and dominating start to the season, RE! GRES! SION! is starting to rear it’s head to the Ducks’ dismay. This week has not been kind to the Ducks with a 1-3 loss to the Maple Leafs followed by a very amusing (to me at least) 7-2 loss to the Flames. They gave up a power play goal and two short handed goals because if you want to tank, just tank as much as possible. The disaster didn’t last forever unfortunately, and they bested the Avalanche 6-4 in their latest game.
The Ducks run a very top 6 heavy scoring game, so if the Kings can just shut down two guys, Perry and Getzlaf, then advantage Kings on the scoring front.
Missy Elliott – Work It
The Kings go into tonight’s game losers, having lost to the Maple Leafs on Thursday, breaking their post-Olympic winning streak. With reports yesterday that Jonathan Quick and Dustin Brown were a bit under the weather, it’ll be interesting to see if there will be any adjustments within the lines that Darryl Sutter runs, maybe more chances for the rookies to show their stuff.
Bernier was pulled in the game on Thursday, Reimer looked iffy for a moment as well, Phaneuf is currently battling the flu, and Quick and Brown are questionable for tonight’s game. I think someone might have cursed everyone that night.
In the games following the trade deadline, it was clear that the Kings were better with Gaborik on the ice, even if he wasn’t scoring goals. Now with an assist and a goal in Thursday night’s game, it seems as if things are starting to click in a goal rewarding way.
Ellie Goulding – Anything Could Happen
At this point though, it’s a bit of a toss up as to what happens Saturday evening. After a stellar 8 game run, the Kings lose their last game with a bad goal given up. On the other hand, the Ducks have been struggling immensely only to right the ship with a big win in their last game. For a while, the Ducks were solidly in first, but their terribleness means that the Sharks are closing in. The Kings are unlikely to catch up to either of the other to California teams in the standings, but they can help ruin it for the Ducks by robbing them of 2 points, which I thoroughly support.
