Kings at Oilers: Still Winning Doesn’t Get Old

The Kings didn’t lose to a worse team like I thought they might, so good times had by all!

Jeff Carter starts the scoring off with a goal that bounces off of Philip Larsen’s skate. I guess being a goal scorer means that whenever you shoot towards the net, no matter how shitty the angle, magic happens.

Thanks for the assist Larsen!

In the second, dear, sweet, wonderful Alec Martinez snaps one past Scrivens to put the Kings up 2-1. The Twitter sphere erupts with jubilation! He’s really playing in a way that will make Sutter look like a dingbat if he benches him. I love it.

Seriously though, Martinez is so great.

In other news, we live in a world where we should get excited about power plays because with this one that Carter scored (sort of), the Kings have scored a PPG in 5 of their last 6 games. With special teams being at their best right now, it’s like watching another team altogether.

But really, I think Carter might be magic. With this, 2 Carter goals and 0 shots because he’s the best.

Say what you will about luck, but they wouldn’t be getting lucky bounces if they weren’t going to the net and parking their hockey butts to battle up front. After weeks of complaining that the Kings don’t go hard and tend to fall back defensively too quickly, this is Good News.

With all the weird, improbable things that had happened so far, it’s only right that the next goal scored was from #22, All American Hero, Trevor Lewis.

This is where I let out my loudest cheer, tbh.

Trevor Lewis scoring a goal really is the sign that the Kings are getting into the playoff swing because why else would he actually be getting pucks in the net? Way to be Lewis!

Later on, Almost King, Sam Gagner gives the Kings a little scare by scoring the Oilers’ second goal early in the third. Who cares though because it didn’t amount to anything in the end, and the Kings maintain their perfect record of winning games while holding the lead after two periods.

The Kings peppered Scrivens with 50 shots, so it was hard work for The Professor, but you can only pull off 59 save games so many times.

ch_featuredYou did your best soldier, better luck next time.

The Kings play another crap team tonight, and you know what, I’m actually really optimistic about it. Let’s go for an 8 game win streak!
